SIGNAL COVERAGE

PAGEONE COMMUNICATIONS
Our pagers are supplied and supported by PageOne Communications, a company dedicated to providing a complete paging service. PageOne continues to invest heavily in improvements to their infrastructure which is already supported by the latest state of the art software.

O2, which are part of British Telecom, recently ceased it's paging service and recommended all their existing customers to migrate to PageOne, the only company they could trust to continue giving customers a dedicated and reliable paging service. At the same time 02 made available their mast sites for use by PageOne, thus expanding the PageOne coverage to many additional areas.

Over the last few months several new masts have come 'on line' at a number of locations throughout the UK. We will continue to keep you updated with developments and progress in relation to signal distribution, we know that this is a very important issue which can affect our customer service in some prime birding areas.
We are confident that PageOne are dedicated to paging services in the long term. They are not distracted by being part of a national mobile telephone network supplier and they obviously feel secure in their long term future by continuing to invest and extend in their infrastructure and software.

NEW MASTS BROUGHT ON LINE DURING FEBRUARY 2005

Orkney and Shetland
You will know that since we took over BirdNet Information in November 2004 PageOne Communications, our service providers, have been busy improving their signal network. We already had a dedicated mast in the Scillies which gives excellent coverage. PageOne continue to progressively uprate their network throughout the UK. Now the really good news, two new masts on Orkney at Kirkwall and Westray and a new mast on Shetland at Bressay.

Suffolk, Hexham and Hartlepool
Some members may be aware of signal coverage problems in some areas of  Suffolk, however most of these have now been eliminated by the erection of new masts at Martlesham Heath and Mendlesham. Also in the north of the country we now have new masts at Hexham and Hartlepool, which have also improved signal coverage in the north east.

New masts in the south
In addition to the already goods news, new masts are now 'on line' at Torquay, Ware, Chelmsford and Brent Cross.

North West Scotland and Outer Hebrides
PageOne Communications are working well for BirdNet Information Members. Two new masts now 'on line' at Mallaig on the North West Scottish coast and at Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides, with work going on also at other sites in this region

Stornaway
We now have 2 on Orkney, 1 on Shetland, 1 on South Uist at Benbecula and a new site on the mainland at Mallaig and our latest site to come live on 1 March 2005 is at Portcair Forest (south Loch Ness).

BirdNet Information pager coverage is increasing and improving in leaps and bounds. Our pagers are now the only pagers receiving messages in the Scottish Isles, invaluable at migration time! We also serve many eastern areas within the Irish Republic.

No other pager service gives such extensive coverage in the Scottish Isles together with comprehensive coverage throughout the UK.
